Iraq
I have a choice to work there. It will be one year, if they choose me to go, it will be good money. I am considering it. Don't want my head sawed off though.

I would be paranoid every minute I was there.

J got offered a job, for very good money. I told him it would be useless if he was dead.
Plus, you can't drink or look at porn there.

It would depend on what the job was... Like zen said - doesn't matter how much you get paid if you don't get to enjoy it or if your family doesn't get to have you... It's a very dangerous place right now. |

I'd go. Learn a bit of arabic beforehand. Specifically, "Please don't saw my head off". Gives you a better chance of getting out with your head unsawn.
Life's for living. And it's waaaaay more fun if you're living dangerously.

Didn't you just buy a house? Going to sell if you go? Rent it out?
Not to be a total downer..but have your affairs in order should you decide to go. Step son did 3 tours there..it is not a happy place.

So, in other words, you are willing to profit from the war, risking life and limb for a buck, huh?

The way they are kidnapping white girls over there, I would not go. I know as a gov't employee they *should* keep better wraps on you, but man. It's not guaranteed. I like a guarantee, myself.

Hey all. I asked for more details, and I will get them April 20. My main concerns are how the government intends on protecting me, will I be allowed to have a weapon, and how much they intend on paying me.
The house thing is covered. I can have a friend move in and watch over of it for a year. This is not a done deal, just looking into it, and from what I hear it is a stint working in the embassy. |
