The Idle Rich
The Great Gatsby will never be dated. There is so much that is universal in it. Lust and the corruption of money. Gotta love it. The 20's incompasses the period between the end of WWI until the market crash of 1929. A very precise and brief and fantastic period. It is when America became a world equal to the great powers. It is when the culture of wealth was the new royalty. It is the decade when women became men's equal in debauchery. Oh yeah, it was that good!
