Proper Survey Methods
To demonstrate his cleverness, a coworker signed me up to recieve surveys from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Clever boy. Below are some examples of proper(non-leading, unbiased, etc) survey questions:
Question 9: Some Democrats have been lobbying for government-run health care in the United States. Do you support a plan that would hand your health care over to the federal government? Question 18: Should we put an end to lawsuit abuse that is draining on our economy, ruining our health care system and costing jobs? Question 19: Do you support President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" act - which is an absolute commitment to closing the achievement gap so every child can recieve a quality education and the act is producing real results for every child? Question 22: Do you support the protection of traditional marriage - between a man and a woman? But the abosulte best part is this: The survey begins with the following statement (the formatting is accurate, not my invention: This SURVEY DOCUMENT IS REGISTERED IN YOUR NAME and must be acounted for upon completion of this project. If you choose not to participate in this crucial Republican Senate Leadership Survey, return this Survey Document at once using the postage-paid envelope provided. Then, at the end of the survey, you are presented with the following options: 1. YES! I want to help defend our Reepublican Senate Majority and build a strong foundation of Republican grassroots support for President Bush and his agenda. I am enclosing my most generous contribution of: $500 $250 $100 $50 $25 Other 2. No. I do not wish to participate in this vital Republican Senate Leadership Survey. However, I am returning my Survey Document, along with a generous donation to help build a strong foundation of Republican grassroots support for President Bush and his agenda. I am enclosing a donation of: $500 $250 $100 $50 $25 Other 3. No. I do not wish to participate in the Survey, nor do I wish to make a donation to help the Republican Party. I am returning my Survey Document, along with a contribution of $11 to help cover the cost of tabulating and redistributing my Surevy. So....no matter what.....PLEASE send Money!
