The guy is a pedophile, for sure. He is into child pornography and has been busted for posession of it. He got canned from teaching jobs for being too 'familiar' with the students. He married two teenagers. His second wife divorced him after he was busted for the child porn stuff. And he goes to Bangkok, world known for being a headquarters for child exploitation/sex.

But I have this feeling that when he got busted, he figured that if he "confessed" to JonBenet's sexual assault and murder that they would either put him away or put him to death.

And that would stop the madness. Because somewhere, inside many pedophiles and other criminal divients, there is a sick, sinking sense that what they are doing is wrong. They know it, they hate it, they're exhausted from hiding it...by turning himself in, even if he didn't do it, it makes it nearly impossible for him to continue preying on children.

OR

He could just be doing it for attention, since he seems transfixed on the case. Some part of him may think he is doing the world a favor by solving this horrible mystery.
