I get depo provera every three months. No periods and all the joys that come with it. No cramps and subsequent downtime, no spending money "just to bleed", because seriously periods ARE expensive. There's about a two week window in which the shot is due.

I understand that not everyone will have the loss of periods, luckily that's how it works for me.

Depo did the complete opposite for me. I bled all the time! 24-7 for those three months....
There have also been speculations that depo has a link to chronic cystic acne in some women. All I can say is that it was a miserable experience.

I basically gave up on trying to find the right birth control to help regulate my miserable periods, (cramps so bad they induced fainting, super plus tampons every 20 minutes) and after a year or two they finally got to something one might call "normal". (Pay the cell phone bill, start the period the next day). Condoms have always been a neccessity and now they are even more so, but at least I dont have to feel less than myself because of some foreign hormones, even if it is a pain in the ass!
