I don't own a gun. Quite simply, I don't want one. I like having the dog better. (He can at least warn me when there's a fire and I keep hitting the snooze button because I think the smoke detector is the alarm clock. Show me a gun that can do that)
I did live with someone who was a gun enthusiast. And yes we kept one at the ready should there be an intruder, which never happened. I learned to handle weapon safely but never actually shot at anything even as target practice. the simple idea of the power this little thing could wield was terribly intimidating. i was never able to get over that. since then, i have not felt any kind of compulsion to get my own gun. its just not something i feel is neccessary to improve my sense of safety. |
