A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Read this years and years ago at the hospital while my dad was recovering from radical cancer surgery, and a lot of what I read really stuck with me. It is heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time.
Anything by Ferrol Sams. He is wonderful. I've read his trilogy countless times (got Run With the Horsemen as a gift when I was in 8th grade), and I still laugh out loud (and cry too) when I read them. Likewise his short stories. Not many folks outside Georgia have heard of him, but trust me on this one. I always buy extra copies of his books because I'm constantly lending them out and no one EVER wants to give them back. Sight Hound by Pam Houston A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers The Princess Bride by William Goldman. Sort of my literary equivalent of comfort food. My favorite books vary depending on what's going on in my life, though... |

***** we need to talk about kevin, by lionel shriver. i bought it last year, after my bro recommended it. it was in my multitudinous stash, and i thought about it again, after the virginia tech incident. i just finished it - couldnt put it down. it is moving, haunting, horrifying. completely unforgettable.

Great book.
My english class ripped it to shreds with its "search for symbols in a symbolic book and then heavily misinterpret them" attitude, but still a great book. What do you think, surbhi? Was it a true account?

oh we're still lurking about, this section isn't as visible as it used to be, and it's out of sight, out of mind, I'm afraid.
