"The most well known of all the internet memes is All Your Base Are Belong To Us. The meme originates from the game Zero Wing by Toaplan. Zero Wing was released in Japan and subsequently in Europe, both for the Sega Megadrive (Genesis) home video game system. The translation of the game from english to Japanese is one of the most horrendous things ever created. In 1999, a video was released making fun of Zero Wing's translation complete with photoshopped pictures featuring the phrase all your base are belong to us and a catchy sound track dedicated to the game.
