It's fascinating, isn't it? That's Derren Brown -- there are tons of clips on YouTube.

I should admit that I use a little suggestion myself in my line of work, but I only use it for good and not evil! I'm certified to teach relaxation, and I both use a little hypnosis on my clients (with their express consent!) and teach them to hypnotise themselves. It can be surprisingly effective in terms of mental relaxation, pain relief, etc., but it varies a lot from person to person. I'm sure Brown only shows his best attempts.

It really is scary, tho'...we don't realize how much of our apparently conscious thought is obscure to us and therefore susceptible to manipulation.
