Someone told me today that Johnny Appleseed went planting apple trees all over so he could sell little apple trees to everyone settling out west, and because apples at the time weren't the big, sweet, hybrids that we have now, people grew those hard, sour, homely little apples for cider.
Which became hard cider quite quickly. So our hero Johnny Appleseed, rather than spreading the patriotic joy of and solid nutrition of frugivory, was promoting blooteredness. For profit. On second thought, that is pretty much the American Way... |

all the more amazing then, that johhny managed to plant all those eleventy squillion apple seeds while he was completely off his face
talking about apples and saying the name "johnny appleseed" always makes me want an apple but right now ahavenie got any so i'm going this very minute on foot to my grocer to buy some from him. that's how impulsive i am! cheerio! |
