catbelly, not everything i say is meant to be taken too literal. and if i believe in one fewer god than you... and you belive in ONE. that would leave me believing in how many gods???? ZERO. therefore not believeing in any god would make me an athiest or agnostic... your choice.
NYC, i completely understand what your saying. i wont so much put myself in a class of athiest... more agnostic. if i get proof, or i feel it in my heart that he's up there, i'll beleive, but i dont feel it, i dont see it. and while i may have asked for some dumb things when i was younger and i did find one thing... odd. when my grandmother, i prayed for her to just be released from her pain... my only request.. to see her first. my sister took me to go see her on a sunday, monday, got home from school to find she had passed away very early that morning. but you ask most christian why they believe in god, and its for comfort, and thats all i wanted, i just wanted to have my heart lighted for once, i wanted to not feel like i had this huge bolder on my back all the time. i wanted my sister to get her life in order, i wanted my dad to stop drinking all the time, i wanted my mom to stop being so abusive. these are the things i prayed about everynight. yeah, i may have secretly prayed that i'd get better grades, or that i'd get something i didnt need, but im talking i was looking for answers that to this day, have never been answered.
