You are so right - I like his playful, unpretentious sense of humor, very fun browsing those! Hard to pick a favorite out of them, but that very simple one of a crowd of stick figures grouped around a hole in the paper admiring a blob of "real" color bends my mind a little and makes me happy

While looking around near there, I came across this:
Sno-white Drive In

I found it in this group - Red/Blue/Yellow Together, which is a combo that I have an inexplicable attraction to.
I may have talked about it before.

A few years ago, I'd done a commercial so had a few extra bucks to spend. It was time to paint the interior of my house, get rid of the ugly beige "renter's" curtains, maybe paint over the awful teddy bear wallpaper in the bathroom, the horrible, dingey powder-blue kitchen - so I picked up some paint chips, brought home some fabric.

I noticed that everything I liked in colors had intense blue, rust and gold hues. It's pretty, I like it, I thought. Hard to make it look tasteful, but let's try and go with that.

Then I started looking around the house.
Tablecloth - blue, rust and gold flowers.
Bedspread - blue, rust and gold filigree pattern.
Favorite plates, bowls, cups - blue, rust or gold.
Various candles around the house - red, orange, gold.
Okay, so I already liked those colors in my decor. So what?
Then I looked in the fish tank. Blue neons and betas, orange guppies, yellow gouramis.
Pets: golden lab retriever, orange tabby cat and another cat - white with blue eyes. This was getting a little weird.
My husband walked in. Red hair, blue eyes. He was wearing a golden-yellow button-down flannel shirt I'd bought him. I ran past him to the outside and looked at all the colors of the flowers I'd planted in the front yard. Yup.
How had I not noticed this before? I'd always thought my favorite color was purple.

Blue rust yellow

Vija Celmins must be a little insane. She paints these incredibly photo-realistic paintings of oceanscapes:

And starfields:

And her spiderwebs are breathtaking:

Which then of course turn my mind to the humongous sculptures of Louise Bourgeois:

...who did them as an homage to her mother, a weaver. She saw spiders as wise, industrious artists with a strong work ethic:

Then when I think of other insanely-driven artists, I always go to Chuck Close, who works like this close-up...

...but you have to back way up to see the whole of it:

Insane. Too much. Craziness.
