![]() the visionary film director werner herzog says:
"The biggest danger we face as a civilization, in my opinion, is television because to a certain degree it ruins our vision and makes us sad and lonesome. Our grandchildren will blame us for not tossing hand grenades into television stations because of the commercials. Television kills our imagination and what we end up with are worn out images because of the inability of too many people to seek out fresh ones." as i look at my television in light of these words, i agree. just look at the artistically bankrupt mess on your television now. how will our children's children judge us? |

Throw away your television Time to make this clean decision Master waits for it’s collision now It’s a repeat of a story told It’s a repeat and it’s getting old Throw away your television Make a break big intermission Recreate your super vision now It’s a repeat of a story told It’s a repeat and it’s getting old Renegades with fancy gauges Slay the plague for it’s contagious Pull the plug and take the stages Throw away your television now Throw away your television Take the noose off your ambition Reinvent your intuition now It’s a repeat of a story told It’s a repeat and it’s getting old Throw away your television Salivate to repetition Levitate this ill condition now It’s a repeat |

There's a big difference between the content on tv and the content online.
Tv is produced by the few for the many. Online content is produced by the many (for the whatever). Online file sharing, easy to steal and change graphics, the ability to simply and cheaply maintain one's own site, etc., mean the web lets people do their own thing -- for better or worse. TV makes it seem like access is expensive and hard to obtain. You still hear people make a big deal about being on tv, but when did you ever hear someone say -- "They mentioned me online!" (Well, there was that "Look at Me I'm In the Debate Hall" thread... haha) TV is a drain. As an artist (poet, ouch, don't laugh), I don't like to work if I've seen tv. Maybe it's just a superstition, but I try not to even glance at tv if I think I'll be writing later in the day. On the other hand, I can spend all day online and it doesn't phase me. Still -- both cable television and the internet suffer from too little substantive content: they both have a habit of linking to or posting the same crap. |

it's four o' clock
the t.v.'s on my mind is shut off and my own thoughts are gone i change the channel i change my mind i change my life i wanna leave it all behind cause i don't have a mind of my own i am influenced by everything i see and i can't help it now everything in my life just thinks for me can't help this habit i'm in love with my disease worshipping my idle time a life i cannot seize trapped by depression and i sleep all day but xanax, valium, attavan makes it all ok it's so much more than a cry for attention no loving hands can sooth this ache so much more than a war with the world it's my own degradation it's my own self hate i preach my pessimism right out loud to anyone who'll listen i'm not afraid to be alive i'm afraid to be alone late at night my monsters find me from under the bed or out of my past all alone with nobody to talk to sanity gets put to the test i close my eyes but i'm still haunted sometimes i get too twisted to sleep as all my world crumbles all around me inspirations become admissions of defeat cuz i don't have a mind of my own everything in my life just thinks for me like this argument, this song was popular when i was in high school if you watch a bunch of shit all day, then the effects are obvious - obviously you're watching a bunch of shit all day. if you incorporate some kind of brain power with what you're watching and you can make it whatever you want pow |
