My current compie at work has the official name theo26 (this is so boring, decent workgroups name their compies after Greek gods/heros or stuff like that, at least our master nodes are named after chemical elements), but I call him "Babe" on good days and "blöder Pisser" if he behaves like one, let the KDE crash for example (he does that ON PURPOSE!!!). My old home compie (an antique thing from '98, my very first own compie), meanwhile passed from the processing , was named HAL, simply HAL, no number, no pet names, no cuss names, I miss him purring like big, happy tomcat...

My network has names from Egyptian mythology, but chemical elements are pretty cool!!
My own computer is Nephthys, Egyptian goddess of the underworld. The wireless is Nut, goddess of the sky. The computer with zillions of coloured LEDs in its case is Amunra because it's so bright, then there's a couple more Egyptian gods/goddesses.

I give names to most of my technology, I think it makes things easier, especially when you want to eject a USB something and you can't remember if it's E or F or G or whatever.
My mp3 player is called Sheep because it's black and is a black sheep, going against the trend of iPod brand mp3 players.
My first small thumb drive is called Thumbellina.
Then I got one with more space and called it Tomb Thumb, but it got appropriated by my mother and lost among my relatives.
So I got a third one and it says 'Soniq' on the side, so I called it Tails, after the cartoon character.

i name everything else, so it seems silly that i haven't named the computer(s). it's just desktop, laptop, and work laptop.
