Oh, that is terrible.

I'm here and okay.

Rain Storm 2005 should be hitting soon though - hopefully it won't be as tragic as two weeks ago.

All okay here... I just called my friend Laura, who had said she and her son were going to take a train ride downtown one of these days (they live in Glendale - he loves 'Thomas') and they're just fine... Unfortunately, a lot of people who work for my mom's company take that train to work... they're waiting to hear.

Heard on the radio on the way home that it was caused by a guy who intentionally parked his SUV on the tracks in a suicide attempt. He lost his nerve and ran from the car.
He'll be facing 10 homocide charges now, fvcker.

Another trapped man had used his own blood to write a note on a seat bottom. Using the heart symbol, he wrote "I love my kids" and "I love Leslie."
He lived.

Alvarez's estranged wife, Carmelita Alvarez, had ordered him out of her home months ago, her family said, and in December she obtained a temporary restraining order keeping him away from her, their 3-year-old son and other family members.

"He is using drugs and has been in and out of rehab twice," she said in asking for the restraining order. "He threatened to take our kid away and to hurt my family members." She said he was "planning on selling his vehicle to buy a gun and threatened to use it."

Carmelita Alvarez, who lives in a converted garage behind her sister's home in suburban Compton, also told the court her husband had threatened to seek revenge on people he suspected of introducing her to another man. She said his drug use was triggering hallucinations.
a real winner.

What's ironic is, they're discussing whether he'll get the death penalty.

I think a better solution would be for him to have to meet all the families and friends of the people whose deaths and injuries he was responsible for, and to get some therapy. Putting someone like him to death isn't what the death penalty is for - it's supposed to be for people who are resolutely non-contrite and non-reformable - people who somehow have become monsters, who will never be able to contribute in a positive way to society. What he did was horrible, unbelievable selfish, infinitely regrettable, but there's a possibility that he could be rehabilitated.
People do really stupid things when their brains are drug-addled... I just heard a story about the guy who kidnapped Frank Sinatra's son. He needed the money; he convinced himself it was okay to do the kidnapping because he planned to invest the money and pay Sinatra back. The guy, who served his time and is now a successful millionaire, acknowledges that his judgement was significantly influenced by the drugs he was doing...
Put the guy in jail - let him clean up - give him something useful to do.
