Talking yes!

i really enjoy these books,
Terry Pratchett has a talent of being able create a whole fantasy world and hundreds of detailed characters, *with* humour!

pure genius.

like Frieda said, "The Light Fantastic" is a good place to start.
the city watch trilogy is also a good read.

theres also 3 discworld computer games, point and click adventures, theyre also very funny, the first game is very hard though.

there's a new one coming out this November: The Night Watch.. it's about Commander Vimes' youth and how he got to be part of the Watch.. according to the reviews this book is going to be very different, but still extremely funny.. YES!

Ooooh, I love Pratchett!! Shamefully, I only got to know him this last summer... but I suppose it's never too late to discover such a fantastic author, is it?

Great choice,

Pratchett is brilliant. Have you read "Good Omens" by him and Neil Gaiman? It's not Discworld, but it's a very good read.

Good Omens

:holds up hand...finally:

yes, I belong to this thread...

Good Omens is a choice read. Not for the average american bible belt WASP, but then most of Pratchett isn't.

I love that Crowley listens to "Fat-Bottomed Girls". In fact, Crowley reminds me of one or two people around here...

Discworld

I am intrigued. I have read none of this series.

I looked around, and to the best of my knowledge, THIS is the best order I should read them in:

1. Equal Rites
2. Wyrd Sisters
3. Witches Abroad
4. Lords & Ladies
5. Reaper Man
6. Mort
7. Soul Music
8. Hogfather
9. Small Gods
10. Carpe Jugulum
11. Maskerade
12. The Colour of Magic
13. Sourcery
14. The Light Fantastic
15. Troll Bridge
16. Faust Eric (Faust being struck through)
17. Interesting Times
18. The Last Continent
19. Guards! Guards!
20. Theatre of Cruelty
21. Moving Pictures
22. Pryamids
23. Men at Arms
24. Feet of Clay
25. Jingo
26. The Fifth Elephant
27. The Truth
28. Night Watch (I assume only because it is not on the list and most recent)

Apparently, I will best follow the humor in this order. So, this is the order I intend to read them in. Unless someone here knows their Pratchett and fixes me up.

Great thread!!!!!

I say just grab the cloest one to your hand. They'll be good no matter what order you read them.
