How the fark do you get rid of fruitflies? First person to tell me to stop eating fruit get an F.

Ain't the Internet amazing? Here you go...

Take a small jar- spice, baby food, whatever...

Use a 3"x5" card to make a funnel shape with a hole that looks like it would barely fit a fruit fly.

Tape the card so it holds the funnel shape.

Place a chunk of fruit (banana seems to work best) in the jar...

Insert funnel shape into jar and tape around the edge to seal it to the jar.

For extra good results, I like to put some grease around the outside of the bottom of the funnel cone so the fruit flies can't land on the inside of the cone and walk out.

Leave it on the counter.

The fruit will give off the odor that attracts the flies, they will find their way easily into the funnel, but won't be able to get out.

I have an ant infestation in the ceiling. Pest control says they need to pull the roof off. Any other suggestions?

Are the fruit flies buzzing around your house or are they getting into stuff? If they are getting into bottles of liquids then you can repell them with mint oil. I used to work at a restaurant and fruit flies would get into the sweet liquors. The bartender put mint oil on the pour spouts and that seemed to keep flies out of people's mojitos.

Yikes. I thought it was bad trying to kill off ants outside, next to the front walk. They laugh at Later's Ant Killer (powder), laughed themselves through a whole canister of it. They laughed at Later's ant traps. The Raid ant traps they are taking a leetle more seriously (the infestation that was living under my sweet little dwarf Norway Spruce and killing it is gone, at least), but they are not gone yet. Short of jellied kerosene, I'm out of ideas.

I found that the Amdro ant killer works really well. Find the mound and carefuly pour some around the mound. They should carry it into the mound and kill off the whole colony.

Shouldn't they consider using insect bombs first? You'd have to leave the house for a while, maybe even overnight, but it'd get rid of the ants and probably all those wolf spiders, as well.

Get a cple of sandwich baggies and fill them half full of water. Hang them where the flies are and presto!! It scares the little suckers away.

Also works on horseflies, wasp, bees, etc

(tough explaining to company why you have baggies of water hanging in the house though)

wtf is up with fruit flies?? either eat the fruit within 2 days or wash it before you put it in a fruit basket or something!

and throw away the peels, in a bin that has a lid.. no probs!

i saw them do this down in st augustine last year. seems to work, but why?
