Vancouver B.C.

The best dive bar in the city is the Brickyard, located directly next to the second largest crack market in town and sporting lovely iron grilled windows and a bartender renowned for trying to force himself on anything that moves. It'd be your average seedy run-down dive if it didn't have the best bands you ever heard. Very cool.

To add to the Vancouver list:

The Piccadilly Pub
620 West Pender St. Vancouver BC

Not much to say. One of the better live-music venues in downtown Vancouver. Features local and touring rock'n roll, punk, rockabilly etc.

It really is! Once I made the mistake of walking to the Railway Club alone late at night by way of East Hastings. I passed drunken brawls, a domestic dispute, and a guy on a side street talking into his watch. Gave the rest of the night that fine great-to-be-alive feeling!

finally a subject I can expound on

Sadly, Luvafair shut its doors this spring... and Graceland is one of those dance clubs that seems to have a new owner/look every couple of months.

I went to Miss T's Cabaret last weekend to see a friend of mine play. Miss T's is downstairs, and has very poor ventilation. Man... it was like hanging out in a sauna, except with clothes on. There was a guy posing in a cutoff t-shirt and a toque! I don't know how he survived without passing out.

I like the Brickyard - did you ever go when it was full of I-Braineater's art? Very cool - I like it now too, though. The bartender didn't hit on me... she was pretty busy though.

LOL!! No, madame... luckily the Commodore is still going strong, and even though they did a reno the springs are still there too. Actually, I went to a burlesque show there a couple of weekends ago - lots of fun! Dicks on Dicks is still there too. So is the Side Door... and Kits Pub. The Metro is not.

Funnily enough the place whose disappearance I really mourn is the Austin Hotel / Flash One. Not because I used to hang out there, but because it was sooooo divey and (correct me if I'm wrong) the Flash One was the cheesiest / raunchiest peeler bar. It was an icon, man!!

So, Vancouver bar crawl in September ?

NYC..

Well, I have attended most of those places and worse, Ivanhoe, Cambie, Yale, Dufferin, Niagra... B.C. (before children)

I enjoy our beaches, the sunshine coast, my tiny backyard, and large treeish parks.

i'd love to have a cuppa with you (of tea) when you come to vancouver...

I lived in Gibsons every since I was 5. Graduated a couple of years ago, moved to Vancouver, but Iím back for the summer. I know a few Robins, so youíd have to be a bit specific. I donít read The Reporter because in is not very interesting. When where you up on the coast?

teeny world

WOW!

I live in Vancouver now, but I lived in gibsons (Hopkins Landing) for a long time.

I would love to move back when the kids are older.

i am going to 1/2 moonbay this summer to see a arty friend Kez.

Unsound.. have you listened to a band called "unsane"? they are a bit gory and remind me of your avitar..

Peg.. do you live in NYC now? how did you get from the sunshine coast to NY?

the sunshine coast rains WAY too much. but you can sit on the beach for hours, resting and no-one haunts you, steals from you or creeps you out.

I havenít heard of Unsane before. Iíll check them out though.

The only problem that I have with the coast right now is that since I have been going to a lot of concerts lately, and how dead quiet it is, there is a horrible constant ringing in my ears.
