wow, that was weird...we were, like, all holding hands...and then everyone got naked...that's what I thought anyway...but it turned out that it was just me that was naked, surrounded by a crowd of people I barely knew, who were already a bit weirded out about the fish-I've-never-seen-moment-of-silence thing.

so i started running...naked...which was a bit uncomfortable. for me...being a guy and all. then I ate some toast tips:yummmmmmmmmmmm

make me an egg and I'll tell you a story about postcards.

seven.

yes.

P.S. don't worry, i'm told the souls of dead fish come back as computer viruses

Fish advice perhaps

My beloved Dad (no longer with us) once gave me very serious sit down advice; never own any fish because eventually they die....he was a poet and a writer and he gave them all names and involved histories, he even wrote poems to them. I only remember one name/ and I think it was the title of a poem as well: Tiresius the blind cave dweller.
As most kids do I didn't listen and now have a 20 gallon tank full of many fish that ocasionally die. No biggie to me, room for new ones.
I read that goldfish have a 3 sec memory, I wonder how they figured that out, but perhaps you feel better now?

I read elsewhere (I think it was the SDMB) that the three second goldfish memory thing was a bit of a myth; fish have memory lasting longer than that, it was said, as evidenced by things like the fact that they come to the surface of the tank whenever you open the lid, expecting food.

that's instinct. i mean, when i wake up in the mornings, i naturally float to the ceiling and wait for a bagel. occasionally i get it.

somebody up there still likes me!

gold fish and memory

I did a search and this is some of the fun stuff that came up:

I suspect the 3 second memory theory was invented by someone to justify putting fish in boring little bowls with no stimulation.
Goldfish Memory is a light-hearted look at the dangers and delights of dating in contemporary Dublin.
A pregnant goldfish is called a twit.
Goldfish have no memory.
Fact: Fish have memories and are capable of learning.
Goldfish can also be trained to find food in a maze. There has actually been research into the effects of alcohol on goldfish memory, and this was described in a book by William Hartston called The Drunken Goldfish - A Celebration of Irrelevant Research.
Goldfish have the irony of being very memorable, yet are themselves reputed to have very short memories.
Goldfish calculus (title)
A US EXPERT RECKONS obsessive web browsing can cause attention spans to drop to as little as nine seconds - equivalent to a goldfish.
