dancing
One of the main things I remember about middle school was school dances... on the slow dances it seemed the thing to do was hold your partner's butt. I don't remember actually doing that but I remember seeing that a lot. Does that still happen I wonder? Or was that just a passing trend?

No, it still happens. I'm a freshman in high school (a child playing grown up in a message board full of adults, I guess) and middle school is too close for comfort. There were two dances a year, and I only went in grade seven. I spent pretty much the whole thing leaning against a wall and shrinking from would be dance-partners. The next time, I got more "into it" and accepted a few invitations, and was rewarded with unwanted groping. So yes, it does still happen, and I think it's a rite of passage that's here to stay.

the last school dance i went to was last year and i went extremely wasted. it was the best time i ever had at a dance. i went w/ my best girl friend and we danced together a lot and gather quite the crowd. mainly b/c we did a lot of groaping. oh and they served food and i ate 8 cookies and 3 servings of fettucini alfredo. munchies love school dances.

i'm a freshman...
in college!! whooo! we have a very active greek life here, so there are dances (read: parties) every weekend and most of the week. i wasn't a big goer-outer in HS, but it's so much better here... wait until you get to college. it'll make high skool seem so much more worth while. i promise. ^_^

Try a party in a foreign country (Canada only sorta counts). I used to love the college parties my freshman year of college. I'm in Hong Kong now, and I've never partied before like I do here and in Bangkok. And, honey, anyone who tells you that high school is the best years of your life is clearly in need of therapy. Just wait for all the fun to come!

When I saw dancing I started thinking of the time of no candles.
I am the oldest of 3 girls. We are all very close in age. When I was 12 or 13 my parents felt they could leave the 3 of us alone without a babysitter while the went out to dinner. The next thing I remember is my mother furiously going through the house and throwing away every candle even the Santa and Frosty the Snowman candles we put out for decorations at Christmas. Apparently, when my parents came home there was red candle wax all over. We had found red candles, lit them and danced and twirled all around the house. It was a long time before we left without a babysitter again. ![]()

the first dance i went to was a pajama dance in sixth grade. i didn't wear my pajamas, because that wasn't cool, but i actually danced with BOYS! there was one boy in the eighth grade who danced with all the girls and when i got to dance with him, i couldn't stop giggling. i was being silly and purposefully stepping on his feet; i couldn't hide the glee of being a sixth grader dancing with an eighth grader.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned 'freaking'.
It's basically dry humping on the dance floor. Anyway, hate to tell you all this, but I am a very protective Spanish mother with a teenager... and you know what? The fact that she respects herself enough to rise above the crass behavior of some of her peers makes my heart sing. Yay for her! Self respect is a beautiful thing. Unfortunately, I was an idiot with no self respect when I was a teenager... I cringe when I think of the pimply faced neanderthals I allowed to grope me. Grope and grind away if you must, but remember this... it's better to be respected as a whole human being than considered a hot little sex toy. <---aging sex toy who wishes she had demanded more respect ![]() Last edited by Isla : 11-06-2002 at 12:10 PM. |

Dancing
Maybe if you danced like Ze boys respect you more? I have no idea... I was always the one standing by the wall feeling like a complete lemon.
