PRESS ON. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing in the world is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
Calvin Coolidge

If something is too hard to do, then it's not worth doing. You just stick that guitar in the closet next to your shortwave radio, your karate outfit and your unicycle and we'll go inside and watch TV.

There was a road ran past our house
Too lovely to explore.
I asked my mother once—she said
That if you followed where it led
It brought you to the milk-man’s door.
(That’s why I have not travelled more.)

-- Edna St. Vincent Millay

we should go forth on the shortest walk perchance, in the spirit of undying adventure never to return - prepared to send back our embalmed hearts only as relics to our desolate kingdoms

You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.

Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.

I think one of the reasons I'm popular again is because I'm wearing a tie. You have to be different.

I knew a woman in London who boasted that she had lodgings from the windows of which she could throw a stone into Carlyle’s yard. And when I said, “Why throw a stone into Carlyle’s yard?” she looked at me as if I were an imbecile and changed the subject.

A hallucination is a fact, not an error; what is erroneous is a judgment based upon it.

Then there was LSD, which was supposed to make you think you could fly. I remember it made you think you couldn't stand up, and mostly it was right.
