This is why this board is great. You can post a random thread like this one and get a tone of responses. I wish I had something more relevant but this is vaugely related and funny.

I like to move it move it...
When they show Lilo w/the long hair & the long skirt & flipflops, that ALWAYS reminds me of Clytie's pics of her trip to Hawaii.

Imagine my disappointment when she looked nothing like Lilo in person. hahaha.

west african drumming always gives me goosebumps. about 10 years ago i went to a performance of an exceptional nigerian drum and dance troupe and it was one of the most incredible things i've ever seen. the troupe was probably 20 strong, all siblings led by their father. their father was in his 80s, and yet he was still one of the most intense drummers and lithe dancers of the entire group.

it was one of those performances where you inhale at the first beat, and you don't exhale again until they leave the stage.

^ sounds like doudou n'diaye rose (though he is senegalese), who tours with his many wives and children. He plays Sabar, which is a traditional drum played with one free hand and a stick in the other, which looks like this

Thinking of master african drummers makes me think of the master cubans, which inevitably leads to thinking of Giovanni Hidalgo. He is unreal...
