I straightened my suit and my tie
And smiled at the image that I
Would project to the world
As the evening unfurled

And smiled at the image that I
Would project to the world
As the evening unfurled
And proclaimed "i'm a helluva guy!"

My modesty's all-too-well-known
I'd be swell if I were fully grown

If it weren't for the tape on my brain
The pipe up my spine, and the chain

If it weren't for the tape on my brain
The pipe up my spine, and the chain
Two rivets, three bolts
And a forty-five Colt

I'd succor the pain with cocaine.

An expert with head up his arse
lectured on bawd' Irish verse
in a manner quite rude when
best he'd eschewed and
just made his credentials a farce.

Well, first of all, "arse" rhymes with "toss",
Not "farce", so you start with a loss.
The apostrophe you
Employ there is two;
Your mistakes make your limerick dross.

Well, I think that "arse" rhymes with "farce"
Not "toss" - but the rhymes here are sparse
Let's not be too picky
As rhyming is tricky
So don't be too strict when you parse
