September 11 and who I will remember/call

Well first of all, I will remember my grandfather. He did not die on the day of the attacks, he died a few years earlier on September 11. My brother always remarked it was strange that he died on 911.

I will call my friend Tom. He was in the Pentagon when they plane hit. He was on the same side of the building that the plane hit. He remembers advising his commander that both of the twin towers had been hit and was watching television, and surfing the net to see what had happened, when he was knocked out of his chair, and glass fell down on him. He made it out, but many were instantly killed, and he felt guilty about making it out alive. And to be truthful, we were a little more than friends. About two years before the attack, we were casually dating (I lived in VA next to the Pentagon, but, it was a detail, and I moved back to Michigan). I went to visit him after the attack and he drove me by the damaged Pentagon. I spent the weekend with him, and during the first night I was there he woke me up screaming, asking me why I was there. The next day, when I asked him about it, he did not remember a thing. I think he had post traumatic stress disorder, but I did not push it. I will still give him a call and hope that he has recovered. We talk every year on September 11.

Not to deflect from the tragedy that occured in 2001, but it's funny how we all put the date Sept 11th into our memory and ruminate on what we've done, where we've been, we're we are going (?).

I was in the WTC on August 10th, 2001 with my sister, nephew Riley and a friend. One month and one day prior. Just reminds me of how close we can be to tragedy and should appreciate every day we have and the people we have in our lives.

There's talk that the date might be set aside as a holiday, like Memorial Day.

You've probably seen this years ago, but my daughter just showed it to me - not sure if everything's accurate, but here it is ---

CRAZY 9/11 FACTS!

1) New York City has 11 letters
2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.
3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.
4) George W Bush has 11 letters.
5) The two twin towers make an "11"

This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:

1) New York is the 11th state.
2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11.
3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11
4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11
5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11
6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911.
7) 9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:

1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11.
2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.
3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.
4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
Now this is where things get totally eerie:

The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic holy book:

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.

Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end:

Open Microsoft Word and do the following
(TRY THIS FOR REAL)
1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.
2. Highlight the Q33 NY.
3. Change the font size to 48.
4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS 1

o superman. o judge. o mom and dad. mom and dad.
o superman. o judge. o mom and dad. mom and dad.

hi. i'm not home right now but if you want to leave a
message, just start talking at the sound of the tone.
hello? this is your mother. are you there? are you
coming home? hello? is anybody home?

well, you don't know me but I know you.
and I've got a message to give to you:

here come the planes.
so you better get ready.
ready to go.
you can come
as you are, but pay as you go.
pay as you go.

and i said:
ok. who is this really?

and the voice said:
this is the hand, the hand that takes.
this is the hand, the hand that takes.
This is the hand, the hand that takes.

here come the planes.
they're american planes. made in america.
smoking or non-smoking?

and the voice said:
neither snow nor rain nor gloom
of night shall stay these couriers from the swift
completion of their appointed rounds.

'cause when love is gone, there's always justice.
and when justice is gone, there's always force.
and when force is gone, there's always mom. hi mom!

so hold me, mom, in your long arms.
so hold me, mom, in your long arms.
in your automatic arms. your electronic arms.

in your arms.
so hold me, mom, in your long arms.
your petrochemical arms.
your military arms.
in your electronic arms.

the human mind seeks coincidence as a means of making order in an unordered world.

The intellectual value vs mathmatical is interesting. "Numbers don't lie" might be trite, but today they hold an emotional, help me find a word, punch, prayer?

it was a horrible day and i still feel sick when i think about it.
we should also remember the 2,000 (mostly civilians) who are
dying monthly in iraq. and then there's lebanon, bali, madrid, london
and so many other places around the world.
it's all left a terrible scar on humanity.

The first person I think of is my brother, Jeff; he called me immediately after the first plane it and we were on the phone when the second hit. We were both in shock as we were still in the mind set that the first plane had been an accident. The rest of the day was spent calling the rest of the family and sending people home from work to be with theirs. Then we were glued to the tv for the next 3 weeks; I got NY stations at the time and got much better and up to date coverage than CNN could provide. It was both horrifying and riveting and impossible not to watch.

As for calling my brother today......

I would do anything to be able to call him on this day or any other.

This year, one of the people this went out to is no longer getting email. I am thinking about her a lot today.

on the news there was a fire or hurricane
or something I don't know what it was it said:
people were in a building and they jumped out
the window. Of a hurricane or something and
died.Beep me on MSN. If you saw that news and
also the building fell down and then it was
sielent and there was flames everywhere.
It was horrible no fireman went in or no
police went in nobody onhunred people died.
They ran for there lives. it was not great.
From CNN. that news. Try to help out.

My take on Nine One One...

A Tuesday Mourning…
by mick kosmick c 2001-06 all rights reserved

A cyan morning. The eleventh of never...
Twisted martyrs at full throttle scream at the twin towers of power.
East horrifically meets West
Fate is the huntress. Return flight to normal forever cancelled.
No more soft landings. Innocence assassinated.
Even Allah weeps. Was God asleep?
New Rules. The democracy of the western deity of technology gives
The exploited, the ignored, the powerless, payback
On the US home court.

There is no evil force
Only hearts of darkness in each of us
When separated from his hope.
Do not elevate a cowardly criminal act to an act of war.
A perverse cry for help... alienation of alien nations.
Your imperial tax dollars in action.

3000 martyrs massacred
Orphaned all of us.
No more sweet scent of a lovers body. No more I love you.
Unrelenting pain of the empty bed, the vacant chair, the full closet.
Crippling certainty of uncertainty.
Did my love have to choose between fire or terminal velocity?

Conflagration fuels incendiary mass communication
Sensory mayhem.
Penetration. Violation. Instigation.
Great balls of fire - over and over and over and over.
Excites. Incites. Invites cineplex reality.

Have the soldiers of Christ forgotten
that violence never determines who is right, only who is left?
A just war, always becomes just a war?
Vengeance is mine? Who's turn today? Tomorrow?

As the wages of technology increase complexity
The digitized human spirit secretly pleads for simplicity.
Life cruelly imitates art. Art is the loser.
Got nowhere to run, baby - got nowhere to hide.

There is only one way back. Hose out the Fridge of
Leadership six years past the sell-by date.
Impeach those who preach war is good ‘bidness.’
Get Informed. Get Involved. Get Active.
The only way left – take it to the streets.
With Courage. With Resolve. With Patriotism.
