Firefox Help!! HEP ME HEP ME! - ZEFRANK.COM

Ok, so I don't know what I did, but all my bookmarks are gone, some little thing popped up and said I had to make a new default or something so I think that's what I did, but how do I get the old one back!??!?!??!

sounds like you opened a second instance of firefox while one was running forcing it to create a new profile... or it lost the default profile some how. let me do some looking... I'll see what I can find

That is firefox.exep

That should launch Profile Manager and you should see TWO profiles listed. The original 'default' one has all your old settings. Delete the new one you created and launch with the old one.

If the above path doesn't launch Profile Manager, you may need to enter it as follows instead:

Start > run > firefox.exe -ProfileManager

If ever you get asked, out of the blue, to create a new Profile, don't. Just do the 'Task Manager' thing above and you can launch normally.

I think they are kept in

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\imtopsau.default\boo kmarks.html

There is also a bookmarks.bak file in that directory, a back up presumably, I don't know of what, but it's anothe HTML file.

Try control+alt+delete and under you Task Manager checkyour "processes" tab NOT the "applications" tab. Then find the process called "firefox" and press "end process". When it asks you if you are sure press "yes". Then run firefox again and you should be ok. If you started a new profile when you start Firefox again it will probably be on the new profile you created unless your old profile was selected as default. If it comes up and you still don't have your bookmarks then close all firefox windows. Again check the processes to make sure firefox is not running any more and then copy the shortcut to firefox and paste it somewhere. Open the properties for the new shortcut and modify the "target" section and add "-profile" minus the quotes to it. Run that shortcut and select your old profile. That should do it. If not, just leave another message and I'll see what I can do.
