I had a black and white male cat like that one and he would have figured out how to slide that door/window open and let his new friends in to play. Miss him.

i have to say-- i am amazed how close these animals are to the window, they aren't shy at all.. is this common? we don't have any wildlife.. educate me

This picture was taken in northern quebec - heavy and dense forest areas and a large population of wildlife like these guys. For a lot of the smaller communities, its normal to see a lot of deer, moose, etc and they come up to the homes and eat out of the bird feeders and trash, or anywhere they can smell food. Their fear of humans is starting to decline, which in some ways makes it a bad thing.

Although I am a strong advocate *against* hunting, their hunting laws ensure they dont mass produce and overpopulate, starve, get smoked by cars, come into human-land, etc etc.

A little wildlife a-la-canuck knowledge for you.

what surprises me most is that they're inside of the railing, meaning they've narrowed their avenue of escape, which is usually priority #1 for deer.
