I teach English (yes, dickieC and dinzdale- both bastardized American and British) and French (Parisian, not Canadian).

Mainly I just try to bring their levels up to a place where we can make up superheroes- thus "instigator of superheroes" on my profile. In the meantime, we have fun laughing at each other when we say "She's brushing her face".

Oh yeah, and I use Ze's toys as a reward for getting homework done early.

1. Vet Assistant
2. Play w/jewelry-makings
3. Way Funky Cool Auntie (my favorite)
4. Former retail slave (anyone remember Woolworth's?)
5. Former paper delivery person
6. Former convenience store opener

Varied, yes, but not too terribly boring. (Well, except for the retail aspect, but I think that goes w/out saying.)

Pax,

Well, if we're gonna post up old jobs...

In chronological order...

Ex-....

Science teacher for kids out in the wild and wooly forests of Oregon.
Clerk in a gift store for a traditional Japanese garden.
Non-profit fundraiser.
Tester/fitter of outdoor equipment for REI.
Yellow-pages advertisement proofreader.
Clerk in art museum gift store.
Crew on sailboat. (spent a whole month barefoot)
Manager of a hostel in NZ. (Got to walk around barefoot)
Printer/assistant to main designer of a graphic arts firm.
Sailboat washer in San Diego. (Got to walk around barefoot)

And now..
English/French teacher. (Get to walk around barefoot)

It's amazing- almost all my favorite jobs correspond to me being able to walk barefoot.

I enjoy the strange Auntie roll also.

I'm only 20, still in university, but here's what I've got so far:

-seller of insanely expensive swiss chocolate ($50/pound)
-summer day camp director for a homeless shelter
-more chocolate selling
-nanny to four boys concurrently with chocolate selling
-assistant in university community involvement center
-medical care coordinator for HIV positive refugees being resettled in Houston
-trainer of university alcohol servers
-prostate cancer reseacher

Currently, I'm just a student because I'm not allowed to work in this country. When I return to the States, I'll go back to prostate cancer, but this summer I hope to work in broader research identifying over- and under-expressed genes in cancer cells.

Well, I have to admit I am a lawyer - please donīt kick me out of the board though - working as legal counsel for an IT-company.

My favorite job in the past was Santa Claus in a Norwegian supermarket, the worst was cleaning the toilettes on a campground.

OMG, Wizard, I can't disapprove of your current profession because I feel so bad about your toilet cleaning experience. I think all people should be made to clean toilets after themselves. The people we pay to clean them should just be monitors who won't let you leave the bathroom until you've done it.

guess you are right although the job financed my first touring - bicycle. Of course I was lucky to not have to do it for a living.
By the way - the rumor that women toilets are cleaner than mens is bollocks. Just as bad - even worth.

and you can't kick me off the board either b/c i'm a lawyer as well..... (but as a general rule, i hate lawyers-- probably more so than most b/c i have to deal with them on a daily basis, 20-30 times per day, so that's my penance).....

OK bealeblues - this is really really bad !
The lawyer-density is rather low here in fact itīs only two so enough fresh air, no weird humor and no legal show-off every other minute.
You have my deepest regrets
