Talking good music

the Vandals are superfunny! check out "my first xmas as a woman" "my girlfriend's dead" "fourteen" and some of their other classics. also Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are AWSOME! get their versions of "country roads" "my boyfriend's back" and "over the rainbow" and you'll be hooked.

Talking the Aquabats

the Aquabats are actually a group of aliens from a surfing planet. they flew here in a hollowed out log and they met the professor, who gave them superpowers and instruments. now they rock! and fight evil!
check out the Aquabats' Theme Song!

if you've got em...list the band url so I can check them out easily. Also, it would be cool if you recommended some tunes specifically.

Thumbs up Jack Johnson

I love Jack Johnson right now ( www.jackjohnsonmusic.com )! He's got a real laid back style. He's actually a pro surfer and is slowly easing into the music scene so there's not much promotion for him out there. But I promise he's good.

Thumbs up Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Really good, dirty delta blues. He plays slide with a passion. Check out his site, http://www.robertrandolph.net/, listen to the most recent MP3. He's playing Irving Plaza in NYC on the 27 and 28 of this month. If you live up there and haven't heard this guy, check him out. Good tunes are "Press On", "The March", and any cover but especially "Voodoo Child". You REALLY need to see him live to appreciate his talent. He was discovered in a church leading revival services...with a freakin' peddle steel guitar.

OK Go. They are an awesome band. http://www.okgo.net there's the link for their website... theres a media player on there somewhere that you can hear some of their songs... their cd just came out today, hmm well i guess you can say yesterday now, but it's really really good ..
..another one of my fav bands is They Might be Giants here are a few websites pertaining to them: www.tmbg.com ... dial-a-song ... dial a song is a thing they created to call and it still works, well not recently, but it did i used to call it all the time (718-381-6962) and you could listen to one of their songs or one they made up that day .. heh ..

Thumbs up indie rock?

Hi,

I like indie rock. Here are some bands/songs that you should like too:

Built to Spill - Time Trap, anything else by this band...
Flaming Lips - Fight Test, anything off of any of their '90's albums.
Interpol - The New, NYC, Say Hello to the Angels.
Sebadoh - Ocean, Magnet's Coil, anything off of 'Bakesale'.
Pixies - Debasser, Nimrod's Son, etc...
Modest Mouse - 3rd Planet, Paper Thin Walls, etc...
Yo La Tengo - Crying of Lot G, We're an American Band, etc...
Nick Drake - Mayfair, everything by ND is good!
Belle and Sebastian - Ease Your Feet into the Sea, Jonathan David, etc...

Ummmmm...I could probably go on forever, but I'll stop here. Anyone else like these bands/songs?

Sincerely,

Bubbles

AOF and Ben

NekoPunk is right TMBG is the best band of all time and I highly recommend all of the bands on Bubbles' list. They are all amazing... but they left out Ben Kweller's new abum Sha Sha specifically "falling" and "family tree" (those are my favorites but the entire album rocks!) www.benkweller.com Also if you all like TMBG you may like the army of freshmen. They are also increadible and very different. You can check them out at www.armyoffreshmen.com. I like "mannequin" and "on the radio"

Hey Bubbles -

They're playing one of Interpol's song from their newest album a lot on one of the stations here... Have you heard the whole thing? How is it?

jive and surreal jazz

I've liked Harry "the Hipster" Gibson for years and just found an out-of-print album of his recently on half.com. He's a good storyteller and very funny, very talented. He has one album still in print (have a listen at http://fye.com/catalog/musicProduct....temId=10171803); unfortunately not his earlier recordings, but still excellent. If you like him, and you like artists like Raymond Scott, also check out Slim Gaillard and his groove juice special, also listed on www.fye.com.
