That was at Maison Picassiette in Chartres. It is just the coolest place. A cemetery worker there spent 30 years tiling over his entire house -- inside and out -- with mosaics, many of them images of the cathedral. Even his stove and furniture was covered with mosaic. (I think his wife was the only thing he didn't cover with tile, so I have to assume most of the broken crockery he used was produced by her hurling plates at him.)

Of course, all his meticulously neat neighbors thought he was insane until after his death when people started coming from all over the world to see the place. Now he's a bit of a local legend.

If you're ever there, check it out. Way more interesting than that big ole church everyone raves about!
