my bulgarian housekeeping lady lecturing me in awful dutch on the fact that dutch people don't stop working when they're home:
"you type, type on laptop, always type, neighbor laptop, friend laptop, you laptop, you always tired in head, not sport tired but work tired in head all the time, turn off laptop when home and do fun things!" |

"For some reason, CAN IT as an answer for the clue “Restraining order?” made me laugh, and I always like seeing EGRESSES in the grid because it reminds me of the P.T. Barnum story essentially proving his maxim that there is a sucker born every minute. Barnum’s American Museum was so popular that people would spend the entire day there. This cut into profits, as the museum would be too full to squeeze in another person. In his inimitable style, Barnum put up signs that said “This Way to the Egress.” Many customers followed the signs, not realizing that egress was a fancy word for exit, and not a sign for some exotic, new attraction. Some of the patrons followed the signs right out the door, and once they had left the building, the door locked behind them. If they wanted to get back in, they had to pay another admission charge. I like to reflect upon that story as one of the things that helped make America great."

^my Mom told me that one. Not exactly funny but large rain drops were falling and the leaves of my weeping cherry tree at my patio door were dancing.
