took me to good places where i could easily fall into ponds, rivers etc., then fished me out when i did, and said therethere nevermind it's ok.

oh, and she stopped people from jumping in the pool to rescue me when I was having a personal time out on the bottom, peacefully holding my breath.

When I was in grade school, she would bring me various books from the supermarket to read that were just a little bit beyond my reading abilities - Black Beauty, The Count of Monte Cristo, A Tale of Two Cities, The Good Earth, The Biography of Madame Curie, etc. None of the other kids (6 of them) wanted or got that.
