Has any of you folks that have visited Scotland ever come across the Scottish midge ?

At certain times and in certain highland places - especially near bodies of water - the Scottish midgie lurks just waiting for the towrists to arrive.

There is said to be around thirty-four species of midge in Scotland but only five of them bite humans. Strangely, it is only the female of the species that does the biting ! [

What can you do to protect yourself from these little monsters ?

Well you can buy natually made anti-midge potions like:

DEET, ( di-ethyl toluamide ) and DMP, ( dimethyl phthalate ) or you can rub on Citronella or Ecalyptus oil. But the only real protection is a good anti-midge hood, long sleeves and long trousers ! [:'(]

I guess that is why the Scots are the bravest soldiers and fechters in the world ! [
