World War Z by Max Brooks
Surprisingly, World War Z is one of my favorite books I have ever read in a really long time. I just didn't know what to expect. Sure its about zombies, but its mainly about man and what man does about this problem. Brooks has a great world view, a great writing talent (he has 20+ characters who give their only little story about the War from a first person prospective), and the correct combination of horror, hope, and the survival of mankind. I would highly recommend this book to any fiction reader, as well as Brooks' companion book, The Zombie Survival Guide.
With that being said, those who have read the book as well as those who have not, what did you think about it? Give details on what you liked, such as its believability (assuming zombies could one day rise to take over the world), as well as how Brooks should have gone with his novel (i.e.- the zombies should have killed everyone or America should have never fallen to its low, etc.) And here's a question to Ze, if you EVER had to duke it out with a zombie, what weapons and/or power moves would you use and which would the LOA allow you to use? (a fireaxe, baseball bat w/nail, ninja stars?) |
