Can you believe these people? How do you come up with something like this?

Here's what gets me:

They basically made the story up for their own benefit. Then, as the people in their community became concerned and wanted to help, you know that they were just sitting at home and laughing all the way to the bank. The fact that their whole community was rallying to support them was part of the joke. Terrible.

Sometimes people in a community really are effected by the events that happen to those around them. When they reach out to help, they do so because they care. It's really messed up to play with people's minds and emotions like that.

Let alone the fact that they used the kid.

I'm glad people here aren't like that. It's just wrong.
