ya beat me!!! I was just going to put up a thread for him. I'm not fond of circus clowns or most mimes, but he was so cool. I saw him perform twice while I was in college (he came to Purdue every few years) and was always in awe of his physical presence and emotional dedication to his craft. RIP. Bip!

I've only ever seen him on film/TV, but I agree - what he did was far beyond what your average street mime does (or Shields & Yarnell - they were fine for kids, but pretty shallow)... something more akin to ballet/great physical comedy/commedia dell'arte. There was, as you say, real emotion there, and a complete mastery of his body. A great joy to experience, and a great loss today.
