Glassy
Glas is an amorphous solid - or a supercooled liquid, that's a matter of perspective.
Glass is made from SiO2 (silica sand), often Na2CO3 (soda), calcium-, magnesium- and/or aluminium-oxide are added to make it durable / easier to process. By adding various metal(-oxides) one can make it coloured, smokey. Obsidian is naturally formed glass. Acrylic glass (Plexiglas) isn't real glass, but a transparent plastic (polymethyl methacrylate PMMA), but it looks like glass - and isn't as easy to smash. (edit: You ain't eejits, just means you can toast plexiglas or whatever glass not by definition 'glass') Glass: fragile - enduring, smooth - rough, clear - obscuring, reflecting, refracting, taking on so many forms... ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Stephi_B : 11-04-2007 at 11:11 AM. |
