What a review

http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/72624.htm

April 3, 2003 -- PLEASE God forgive me, but I love "Scare Tactics," a completely insane show.
It's like Morbid Candid Camera - except that here people get set up by friends in the worst practical jokes ever.

And God forgive me again - but I laughed so hard I thought I'd have to be hospitalized after watching not one, but two, camping gags.

I mean, how can you not laugh when a group of innocent campers, in an RV get threatened by Big Foot in the middle of the night?

Picture this: You're in a remote area of the Grand Canyon or wherever the heck your friends have picked to go camping. (The friends are always in on the joke) Suddenly, the friends you've come to find, aren't in their sleeping bags, there's blood splattered around, and out of nowhere comes a big, hairy monster. Trust me, you'd run like hell, and scream your lungs out too. Unless you're watching this at home - and then you'd laugh like a loon, instead.

I have no idea why it's so funny - but I know I laughed so hard at these people's plight, I was ashamed of myself.

It was even funnier than the skit with the Creature From the Black Lagoon. In that one, a big fish man attacks a car that's broken down, full of 20-somethings in the desert on the way to a rave.

One couple (the unsuspecting victims) are on a blind date, and the guy, scared out of his wits, gets out of the car and runs like hell, leaving the poor screaming girl in the car with the fish monster and his two friends.

OK, it's not the cure for cancer - and that's why I couldn't, in my heart of hearts and quickly deteriorating brain, give it more than 3 stars.

Speaking of stars, the show is hosted by Shannen Doherty - who looks fantastic, dresses in the best clothes on TV, and is every bit the bitchy nut job she plays so well on-screen. Maybe she's not acting after all.

Other horrible, sick practical jokes include a job interview as Shannen Doherty's assistant, when she gets kidnapped by room service thugs; and another one in which guys are trapped in what they think are hazmat situations. When he can't get out, one man even strips down to his drawers and gets sprayed with foam in an attempt to cleanse his BODY.

I know it's sick to laugh, but I did - and I'm not ashamed. Well, maybe a little.
