He stood in the corner, shielded by darkness and silence. Quietly and patietly, waiting for his prey to come out in the open.

He was a hunter by trade...the best in his race...there were few who had his accuracy or his ability. There were even fewer who had his courage.

But, today, he was faced by an opponent, whose like he had never seen before.

The thrill excited him, his senses, now, aroused by the challenge. Finally, someone who could claim to be his equal.

Most were afraid of the dark because it could hide a lot. He knew that while it could hide unforseen dangers, it also hid him and only a mistake would give him away.

He alone, in his tribe, had dared to come out so late.

His challenger peered vainly into the dark...looking for a sign, a mistake, one that he could capitalise on. He found none.

Our man was too shrewd, he knew the surroundings like the back of his hand.
