An Intro.

I've written this intro for the book I intend to finish editing and send out for copywriting in the next couple months. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on it. Thanks.

Candy Necklace
A book of sweets that might rot your teeth if you aren’t careful.
.R.L.

In the depth of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
Albert Camus

Right now, outside, the Sun has not yet shown his face. If he does today, I’m afraid it will be rather reluctantly. You see, he has simply been teasing us for the last week with a beautiful preview of what this spring is supposed to be. Unfortunately, you know that Sun. He’s the type to string you along for months on end, and suddenly, without warning, will stop calling altogether. Unfortunately, as it is not a day for candy necklaces and flip-flops, I shall have to describe what such a day would be.

Such a day would be one where the boy gets the girl and they loiter around a park swing set talking about all the heartbreak waiting for them at home. The Sun would be at that last stage where he’s dangling in the air by a thread, at any moment to fall away for the night, everything cast in gold and set at a breezy eighty degrees. She’d be flipping one of her flip-flops against the heel of her foot, he’d find ways to casually touch her candy necklace, and they’d both smell of chlorine from the day’s earlier recreational happenings. He’d ask to walk her home, and would hold her hand all the way.

Of course there are innumerable possibilities for a candy necklace day, this was only the first to come to mind. Maybe yours will involve throwing bread to some ducks at the lake, maybe a first tattoo, perhaps a stop at a roadside florist. Should this concept be foreign to you, the urge to buy and wear a candy necklace will give you the answers…although, maybe it’s possible that as you delve into this collection of poems and short stories and whatever else I’ve found to throw into this mix, you’ll find that day.

I hope you do.
