don't you think it's sort of a mouthful with your last name?

it's not the seventies anymore? i've just gotten to the point of realizing irs not the sixties anymore

jake sounds like a really tall guy that looks like a pencil
justin seems like a snobby tattletale or 80s drugdrealer

I am not to worried about the teasing because he will have enough of it being a Lugenbuehl as well as half Phillippino. No matter what the name, he will have to endure a little ribbing from someone. (Jake the snake and Phallic Alex) As confident about ourselves as my wife and I are, I doubt it will have any negative effects on him. Besides, I just don’t wish to name my kid the same as everyone else has being that Jake and Alex are the top ten names of the year so far. Really none of it matters as long as he is healthy and we all are happy.

I wondered about how many people read that before I edited it.
I just wasted wind, ya know. I was better off, like I said at the end, to not say anything at all.

Several people I worked with hated my choice of girl's name. One person (to whom I am quite close) actually said, "It will have to be a boy."

Scroom.

A friend of mine named her boy Tanner. I thought it was a swell name.

a friend of mine's parents wanted to name her Miriam, but when she was born they decided to name her Elsa!

ah -- a rant & i missed it -- was it something i said? -- okay, let me explain something here: teasing is a sensitive subject with me because i endured an immense amount of it as a child.

i'm still sensitive even when it's not really directed @ me -- for ex.: the "joking" on lefthander day thread wasn't @ all funny to me. [btw: i'm quite willing to divulge more of an explanation to any of you -- just "pm" me]

and if i offended you in my previous post i apologize.

i had no idea alex & jake were popular names.

you seem to like "tanner" -- that's go for it.

That is ok, thanks for the apology but was not needed. I will most likely have to succumb to my wives wants for the babies name so I would imagine that Tanner is out. I will not give up the fight though. We are waiting to name it after we see him.
My rant was about peoples perception of surfers which I thought you were making fun of but I knew you really weren't.

Cool

You should name him Crush after the turtle surfer dude in Finding Nemo.

Seriously, though. I agree w/the Alex/Jake thing. Too popular to be considered. Although, you will need something sort of bland to balance out Lugenbuehl. *sigh*

I'm holding out for Gabrial. Gabriel. Gabe. Gabe Lugenbuehl.

I also agree that you won't know til you see the kid's face. My cousin Caitlin was going to be an Emily. Then about a month before her birth, my aunt mentioned the name Caitlin to my uncle, and he just smiled & said, "You like that name?" So that is how she became Caitie. Of course, there are 5 million other Caitlin's, Katelynn's, Kaitlin's, etc. Blah.

So yeah, Gabe. If anyone asks you why, tell them some freak on the internet told you to. Or after Gabe Kaplan. joj
