Somewhere on the other side of this wide night
and the distance between us, I am thinking of you. The room is turning slowly away from the moon. This is pleasurable. Or shall I cross that out and say it is sad? In one of the tenses I singing an impossible song of desire that you cannot hear. La lala la. See? I close my eyes and imagine the dark hills I would have to cross to reach you. For I am in love with you and this is what it is like or what it is like in words. Words, Wide, Night - Carol Anne Duffy nt stern xx no19yn l |

From pools of xylophone clear
From caves of memory I saw the children at heart That we once used to be Borne on foaming seahorse herd Compose with trumpeting shell From lines across their hands A song as new as new moon As old as all the sands Shrank to stagnant from atlantic wild Lost that child ’til mermaid Smiled mermaid smiled - xtc xxx gnl |

This world is big and so-awake
I stayed up late to hear your voice This light is here to keep you warm This song is here to keep you strong I made a list of things to say But all I really want to say All I really want to say is Hold her and keep him strong While I'm away from here Hold her and keep her strong While I'm away from here I've seen the world and so-awake And stay up late to hear me sing Just hold her I've seen the world and so-awake And stay up late to hear me sing Just hold him Hold her and keep her strong While I'm away from here Hold him and keep him strong While I'm away from here REM - Eleventh, Untitled Song |

He makes you laugh
He brings you out in style He treats you well And makes you up real fine And when he's strong He's strong for you And when you kiss It's something new But did you ever call my name Just by mistake? I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do So I'll just write some love to you letter to hermoine - david bowie |

I started out on the wrong foot
Now I'm not myself I am Jekyll, I am Hyde Found this place to hide Come seek me Oh, so up and down So back and forth So insecure Can't get this taste out of my mouth Swallow it down Pretend Hold it, hold it all in Let it build up Build a bomb Blow it, blow it away Clear it all out Just end it I'm just a normal person Without those problems When did it change? Admissions so embarrassing I'm on the verge of tears again Hold it, hold it all in Let it build up Build a bomb And blow it, blow it away Clear it all out Just end it Oh look I took the Band - Aid off Did I take it off too soon? Hysterical confession My big courageous move Don't gasp at the predictable A comforting lie can't last Preordained checklist of this awkward love It's so sad Oh, hold it, hold it all in Let it build up Oh, build a bomb Blow it, blow it away Clear it all out Just end it Sort it, sort it out Just give it back No thank you Toss it, toss it away Eliminate Just give up I can't decide This tug of war I'm feeling weak Comforting Lie -- No Doubt

I'm hanging out
with me And you're a vacant chair A chosen compromise This space we rarely share And if you lived here you'd be home now So what you givin' up for me? And what shall I give up for you? Aimless expectations passing by If you lived here you'd be home now If you lived here you'd be home now And to make it real I need to have you here I need to have you I need to hold you Barren wasted heart Neglect of normalcy And if you lived here you'd be home now Oh if you lived here you'd be home now And to make it real I need to have you here I need to have you It can't be sincere Unless you spend time here I need to see you... Supervision is what I need Is what I need Some consistence, tangibility Some casual light days Part of the furniture I want to take you for granted And see you regular So what you givin' up for me? And what shall I give up for you? The separations tired, it's been too long And to make it real I need to have you here I need to have you It can't be sincere Unless you spend time here I need to see you I need you... Come home now Home Now -- No Doubt

[you wanna take a dive? ]
[ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah] [watch out] [it’s quite all right] [through the night] I saw it all from my bubble on the 15th floor I was so unaware as I sank into my leather chair Upon my throne I was known as untouchable The smoke was creeping in My castle walls were wearing thin It took a fire to inspire me to make my move Cigarette in a garbage can Changed the ways of this corporate man It was time for a radical plan (chorus) I took a dive I took a love plunge into your arms I took a dive I took a love plunge into your arms I took a dive I jumped in with all my heart I took a dive Follow me through the door to the great unknown Something was telling me that this would shape my destiny Take my hand, understand you are not alone Shame on me if I oppose the stirring of the holy ghost Heard a voice calling out to me [out to me] I come to set your spirit free [spirit free] And in me you are free indeed (repeat chorus) [ah ah ah ah, ah, ah, ah] Won’t you come and take a dive with me [ah, ah, ah, ah, ahhh] Won’t you come and take a dive with me [ah, ah, ah, ah, ahhh] jump in with all your heart and take a dive (bridge) I’m breathing under water [i’m breathin’ under] I’m sinking like a submarine [a submarine] Your ocean’s so much deeper [i’m goin’ deeper] Than anything I’ve ever dreamed (repeat chorus) Dive - dcTalk |

It's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine
Faith without works baby It just ain't happenin' One is your left hand, one is your right It'll take two strong arms to hold on tight Some folks cut off their nose just to spite their face I think you need some works to show for your alleged faith Well there's a difference you know 'tween having faith and playing make believe One will make you grow the other one just make you sleep Talk about it But I really think you oughtta take a leap off of the ship Before you claim to walk on water Faith without works is like a song you can't sing It's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine Faith comes from God and every word that He breathes He lets you take it to your heart so you can give it hands and feet It's gotta be active if it's gonna be alive You gotta put it into practice Otherwise.... It's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine Faith without works, baby, it just ain't happenin' One is your right hand, one is your left It's your light, your guide, your life and your breath Faith without works is like a song you can't sing It's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine Faith without works, like a song you can't sing It's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine Screen Door – Rich Mullins

Come Thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I'll raise my ebenezer, Hither by Thy help I'm come. And I hope, by Thy good pleasure Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger Wand'ring from the fold of God. He to rescue me from danger Interposed His precious blood. Oh, to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, as a fetter Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it! Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, oh, take and seal it. Seal it for Thy courts above. |

I saw a garage sale
Pulled up in the yard Found a statue of Jesus It was eight feet tall He held out his arms And he seemed all alone So I loaded him up And drove him home Out by my driveway he Looks down the street With his long hair and sandals made Of rebar and concrete I painted him white with a long purple robe He's a rock of ages on our gravel road He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus Standing taller than a tree He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus A bigger man than you or me I thought loosin' my job was The end of the world Till my best pal ran off with my best girl I felt suicidal with no real friends So I walked outside with a rope in my hand Out by that statue there's a big old tree So I stood on his shoulders And I counted to three I had every intention of buying the farm But when I jumped off he caught me in his arms He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus Standing taller than a tree He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus A bigger man than you or me I wanted to return the favor to him Cause I never had a more solid friend So I planted some flowers All around his feet And I bought him a flock Of ceramic sheep He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus Standing taller than a tree He's an eight-hundred pound Jesus A bigger man than you or me He's a bigger man Than you or me 800 Pound Jesus - Sawyer Brown
