dear baseball gods:

the 2003 season has come and gone and you strung me along nicely pretty much the whole way. you let the dodgers tie for first place in the middle, then had them promptly lose 16 of 20. then you allowed them to get going again, right there in contention for the wild card. then, out of left field, you have the florida marlins (who have won a world series more recently than the dodgers i might add) rocket right to the top. very nice. throw in the phillies for good measure-- you know i hate them too.

so all of this is good for baseball, i get it. i'm all for it, actually. but then who do you have win divisions?? the sf bastards, of which there is no excuse, and the cubs. THE CUBS??? you have to be kidding me. oh sure, it's no coicidence that dusty lizard baker is the manager and where oh where did he manage last year? yes, the sf bastards. very nice. i got it.
