I was watching the discovery channel and i was wondering if anyone has seen these people that deform or manipulate thier bodies to look like animals? How far is too far? (tattoos, piercings, etc)

oh i dont really know. anyone i guess. I have friends with a lot of piercings, some have several tattoos, but I dont think I could go as far as these people i mentioned. I just think of the whole, "body is a temple" thing.

Some temples are covered in paintings of icons, others are adorned with ornaments to symbolize universal ideas.
Still other temples are homages to simplicity. An epicurian would make a monkey, not monkery, in a zen monastary. Last edited by dalang : 12-07-2003 at 10:56 PM. |

Thanks. But it looks like it killed the conversation.
(metaphor... the ultimate thread killer) Anyway, I once met a guy who believed it to be sacrilege to have a tattoo that you did not design yourself on your body. He thought to have another person's work on your skin was likening your body to a wall for others to display their works. Then he posed a challenge- what would I put on my own body, if I HAD to get a tattoo? It had to be of my own design. I pass the challenge on to you. |

I don't have tats yet, it's because I don't take it lightly and it's not a fashion statement. I want something that means something for me and me alone ... not sure what I want yet. |

I have no tats...not cuz I think they are bad...but because I hate pain. There is noooo waaaaay i'd let someone jab me with a needle 4,000 times...yikes!!!
Also the idea that the art degrades over time to the point that you'd end up 80 years old with fuzzy blobs where your tats used to be doesn't sound appealing to me in the least. But...to each their own. |

My uncle has Tweety. I'm not telling you where.
Catbelly, I haven't designed it yet. But considering I'm not really one for marking myself beyond a scar or a freckle (nature's own), there's no real time pressure to come up with one. But I like the assignment. Last edited by dalang : 12-08-2003 at 04:40 PM. |
