wow
I just went to the chiropractor for the first time to help alleviate the stabbing, debilitating pain in my hip that's plagued me for the last week. I was in so much pain, I would cry. And I consider myself a tough chickie.
This woman was amazing. And she specializes in pregnant women (I'm 6 months along) so I was very happy to find her. Well, she did the adjustments (which to each one I flailed my arms and legs and went WOOOOO!!, unused to the new sensations) and today, I can walk like a normal person! I can get up, turn, step and lift my leg without excruiciating pain in my leg! I've been converted! |

witch doctors. it's all smoke and mirrors. the chiro rubbed poison dart frog venom into your pores to mask the pain. symptoms will return, and chiro makes more money.

Chiropractors are awesome. When I was about thirteen I suffered from a slipped vertebrae. Worst pain I've ever experienced. I was throwing up whenever I drank water, it was so bad. Fortunately, my mom took me to this wonderful chiropractor. I started doing exercises, and saw the chiro a couple of times, and then twice more a week or so apart. And the pain faded. I still have back problems now and then, but the excercises keep it away, and I only need to visit a chiropractor once in a while.

hmmm
Beale, your sentiments are pretty strong... have you had a bad experience with chiros?
Although I say I am converted, I still maintain a healthy sense of skepticism... but so far the results are great I am seeing her again tomorrow. Unfortunately she is out-of-network on my insurance plan, so I have to pay. |

Maychorian's case doesn't sound typical...at least from the folks I know who go to chiropracters. Everyone I know who sees them...keeps seeing them...I believe chiros are the spinal equivalent of "knuckle crackers"...the release of fluids provides temporary "magical' relief, and then after a short while the symptoms come back, perhaps worse cuz you have been walking around as if nothing is actually wrong with your spine. I think the key to Maychorian's success is that she does the exercises...many perhaps just go back to have their "knuckles cracked" again and again.
Also, it was recently made permissible to claim Chiro's as your primary care physician for insurance purposes here...resulting in tons of workers comp cases filed as a result of chiropracters claiming that their patients spinal problems are work related...it has hurt many small businesses. But...as usual...I could be wrong. Does anyone else have success or failure stories to report about chiropracters? |

I've been seeing mine on & off for almost 10 years. First time was a sleeping-wrong/headboard-related incident and I sleep on 2 pillows, on my stomach no less, so I see him when I need to. Insurance covers it.
I was hit from behind on 11/24, have been seeing him 3 times a week since. I go back tomorrow for a deep tissue massage & adjustment. Hardly any pain left, hasn't even been a month yet. If I hadn't gone to him the same day the accident occurred, I might be worse off. I've never had a problem with him.

Well, sort of Coffee...
I have problems with my sciatic (Spelling?) nerve. I have thorasic spondalitis (sp again), basically it is just arthritis in the back. One usually gets it from sports injuries, or accidents. In my case, it was from being thrown off horses when I was young. I also have a thinning lower disk. As a result of all of this, one of my hips is three inches shorter than the other, and it is a pain in my butt. Literally the pain radiates into my butt. I went to a Chiro for the first time recently, and I was pain free for about a month. However, I want to talk to my Dr. to see if he will refer me to a Chiro, so I don't have to pay for all of the treatments out of pocket. So, yes, another success story. |

If your pain is in you lower back, you may want to try this technique; try sleeping on your side and place a really big pillow between your knees. This takes the pressure off your lower back, my Dr. recommended it and it works. Might be hard to do if you are not a side sleeper though. |

acupuncturists scare me. my sis went and had it done on her ankle and i had to wait in a smelly room a gipsy would be proud of. i vomited in the bathroom, then came back out and waited. it was that bad smelling.

Sad to say, but I agree with the Beale.
I hope if you visit one, you genuinely feel better. Just remember they are not medical professionals and can just as easily fark you up....and they cant even be struck off like a bad doctor. I guess it's a trust thing....and I dont. Now where do you find a decent ju-ju man when you really need one?...... ![]() |
