working on a project
and I have a question that keeps coming up...
what is the cultural significance of a jade pendant, particularly within Chinese society? I'm looking at a flat donut-shaped disc tied on to a thin red cord. I've seen several of my Asian friends in the past wear something similar. Whenever I asked about it, they always tell me the same thing: "My mom gave it to me. I have no idea." I've found a few specialist (read: scholarly) explanations, but what's the everyday explanation? (yeah, I know... not exactly something everyone can harp in on, but it's been bugging me.) |

I thought it promoted clear thinking or something like that. Wisdom.

jade pendants are usually worn for good luck and, more specifically, to relieve anxiety - they are supposed to put the person who wears them at ease
