a couple of guys are sitting at the bar really drunk one night, and one of them get up to go take a piss..
while hes away one of the sitting guys turns to the other and says hey lets play a guessing game when he gets back so if he loses he can buy the next round. And lets think of something really obscure.. like, oh hell i dont know... moosecock. So the guy comes back and sits down, they introduce the game and he says ok... hm... so how many guesses do i get. They say 5. Then if you dont guess you buy. Ok. Can you eat it? They laugh, and reply.. hahha.. um.. sure i guess..... Ok.. Hmm.. aw hell i dunno. is it a moosecock? |

666 is called the number of the devil because in prophecy, in the Bible, it is said that in the end times, you will have to wear that number on your forehead or your right hand in order to buy or sell. It's the mark of the Antichrist, who will rule the world in that time. The reason it is considered an evil number, against God, is because the number 6 is the symbol for man, as Adam was created on the sixth day, and three is the symbol of the trinity--God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the number 666 is a symbol of man trying to make himself God. This was the first sin in the very beginning, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit--they wanted to know what God knew, they wanted to be Him.
So if you don't have 666 on your hand or forehead, it really doesn't matter.

my telephone number growing up was 555-3666 ('course i change the 555 part to protect the innocent). there were these born again evangelical christians who tried to convince my girlfriend that i was the anti-christ on the basis of that little bit of evidence.

If you DO have the number on your hand or forehead, you'll be setting yourself against God. If I remember correctly, this might damn you. I'm not sure--I need to read Revelations again.
Masterofnone--some Christians take this way too seriously. Some are ignorant. Some are stupid. Some make mistakes. Just like the rest of humanity. I've seen 666 on credit card numbers, and it doesn't mean anything. Note of interest: I study at a Christian college, and there is a mailbox number 666. My student mentor group has talked about sending a "letter from the devil" there, just as a prank. I don't know if anyone did it.
