Wink

As the thread starter, she should've given one of her own first.

Unhappy Warning - Sad

Ok, I'll bite.

During my 1st marriage, my mother in law gave me a 40yr old handmade lakota star quilt, very soft, heavily mended, special - a symbolic expetance and gesture of love from her from a tradional old Indian woman to a nervous white girl (me).

I birthed all 3 of my children at home ON this quilt, wrapped my babies in it when they were sick or unhappy - it became a source and symbol of comfort and snuggling happiness between my kids and I.

During our divorce, my ex petitioned 'ownership' of this quilt in order to take it from me (I had claimed ownership as it was given to me and obviously should remain w/the kids and me). He actually got on the stand in court w/some story I'd never heard of describing how the quilt was his and I had to take the stand (in tears, much to the a-hole's delight) to explain my reasons for it being 'mine'...

Somehow the Judge ordered the quilt to be my ex's property and in 'victory' my ex dramatically wrapped the quilt around him, and exited the courtroom smirking.

Of all the awful things this man has done, this was by far the most HURTFUL. My kids and I still miss that quilt. My sister has been working for yrs on a replica of it for us, but it will never replace the original. Farking Farkhead.

If it were me - I'd take it as the ultimate symbol why you're well rid of him. What a pathetic jerk.

Some people are just jerks. I agree with PFPs assesment: take it as a blessing that that guy is out of your life.

I met this lady who worked for the police department for a while. She said that people who were divorced with restraining orders on each other would call up and say "I was at the grocery store and (s)he looked at me. Can you arrest him/her for that?"

Who hurt my feelings? Um, me.

This would be petty in comparison.

The whole family is going to Williamsburg for the holidays. For a week.

Except for my cats.

And I feel sooo guilty. So guilty.
