This Pepsi ad featuring Britney Spears may not appear to be overtly suggestive, yet look closer. The straw in the Pepsi can seems to be venturing directly into her breasts. The word "Pop Some" appears above her crossed legs. The ambiguity of the phrase allows the word "popping" to suggest loss of virginity.






This Candies' Shoe advertisement depicts a woman straddling a computer screen, sporting Candies' Shoes and a bottle of Candies' perfume in her hand. Strangely, the image of a rocketship appears to be shooting up on the computer screen directly into her, a clear phallic symbol suggestive of sex. The man in the ad gives a seductive, knowing look to the audience.

This image appears on the video cover of Disney's "The Little Mermaid". One of the castle's pillars is a clear image of a phallus when viewed closely, although when viewed from a distance it blends in quite nicely with the rest of the castle.



This magazine advertisement for gin appears normal, but look at the the ice cubes in the glass. The lighting was manipulated so that the word "SEX" would be spelled out

This alcohol advertisement contains various unidentified floating images. But look at the portion in the top righthand corner of the ad (we outlined it in yellow). The letters spell out the word "SEX" fairly clearly, although it would most likely not be conciously perceived by a reader who views the ad.



This still was taken from Disney's "The Lion King". It depicts the character Simba looking out into the stars. Some dust swirls out into the sky, and the word "SEX" is written by the dust particles. This frame appears for a split second in the movie, yet the subliminal message has been sent.



This still was taken from a Pepsi commercial featuring pop star Britney Spears. Although the still appears innocent, look at the exploding Pepsi bottle in the upper right corner. Although this still does not show it accurately, the Pepsi bottle explodes immediately after showing Britney in a sexually suggestive pose. The idea of the exploding bottle as representative of male ejaculation was not far from the minds of the creators of this commercial, and not too far from the minds of the viewers when subliminally perceived.
