Casa Grande, AZ.

This will be my updating section, when I have to slum it on dial up for 6 months......

but for now...local news...

4:30 p.m. - 500 block of North Marshall Street, dispatched to the police station about people who were reported stuck in an elevator. Police employees reported an officer with two inmates was in the elevator and the door would not open. A key to the elevator could not be located, a key was crafted that worked and the people were released.

I guess the jail is underground there..........

a response from craigslist...

you will need the following:
internet asap!
a car, no HONDA's, something impossible to steal, but something you don't mind getting stolen, cuz it probably will.
a humidifier for the first couple months, and moisterizers up the wazoo.
the houses out there can be nice when they are brand new, but they are so big and so cheap that sometimes your neighbors turn out to be a couple families who don't speak English.
Make sure you have a home owners association to keep the neighborhood nice.
Its colder in Arizona than Cali in the winter because its a dessert, so don't get rid of your winter stuff.
Watch your back. I actually feel safer in downtown LA at midnight than I do anytime of day in phoenix.
When you are driving, don't look at other people in their cars. PHX is known for road rage.
People there generally get married and have kids really young (my cousin and his wife had their first when she was 15 and he was 17, and I know tons of people like that) . There is not much else to do......It might just be that LA is too expensive to house kids, etc.
Good luck finding healthy food, or a Trader Joes. Its all about Walmart.
drink lots of water
don't eat fast food, and bring fruit from San Diego
hot dog, let me think!
a therapist
and a passport
Good luck to you. and don't let my tainted perception discourage you.h

Zen? That Craigs list response you posted is a bunch of shite. I have known, and know plenty of people who live in and around Phoenix (and other parts of AZ). Don't put your energies into a bunch of bitter generalizations you know? If you think it's all that different crime-wise, etc. then S.D. you might want to do some more research.

It can be a wonderful place and Arizona has some awesome locations to see. Relocating to someplace so different and new to what's famillar to you is scary and unsettling no matter where it is you're going. I hear how sad and unsure you're feeling about leaving your family and friends, but don't talk yourself out of a nice place (that seems to offer you so much), out of fear.

It can be anything and everything you make it Hang in there, hope things get clearer for you pronto!

Aww Zenny. Hang in there baby!
You are young. Time really does go fast. When you get there it could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened? It can't be that bad, just incredibly different.

Garbage Truck Stopped With 2 Tons of Pot

By Associated Press

February 26, 2004, 8:29 PM EST

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- A garbage truck was stopped carrying more than two tons of marijuana north of Huachuca City, a Department of Public Safety official said.

The truck had been driving erratically late Tuesday, said DPS Sgt. Steve Tritz.

"It got my attention," Tritz said. "He was driving slow and failing to signal."

The driver, who identified himself as 28-year-old Brian Rivera Martinez, said he didn't know how to drive the truck.

When a drug-sniffing dog arrived, it alerted authorities to possible narcotics. DPS officers found 4,112 pounds of marijuana bundled in the area where trash would be carried.

Martinez and passenger, Michael Trejo Duran Sr., 38, were arrested on suspicion of transporting and possessing marijuana for sale.
