I really thought Bill Murray was going to win.

I lost the Oscar Poll @ our annual party we had--came in dead last. I didn't want LOTR to win, so I didn't vote for it, and then I paid for it dearly. *cries* One year, the one w/the most right answers won our dog.

Disappointing. I agree. Why the subject matter of Penn's movie is even important - though I'm not sure exactly what it is - something gory, methinks - is a mystery.

Ya know, I think I'm the only one here saying that I'm glad Penn won. His life has been such a roller coaster, it's nice to see him recognized after putting in some really hard work and effort -- that man was down low for sooo long. His work has been improving over the years and he's really grown as an actor.

As for Murray, I can sort of see why he didn't win .... he's got the "comic guy" stigma attached to him -- much the same way Jim Carrey did ... I think if Bill does a few more serious flicks, he'll start to get the recognition he deserves, but he has to put a few more under his belt. He certainly has the talent. Now I want to see more of him in this genre.

i'm with nyc. penn's paid his dues and he's probably the best actor of his generation. has been for a while. by the look on his face, i don't think even murray thought he belonged in that group of nominees. his time will come... but anybody who saw "the razor's edge" knows he isn't in the same league with penn. in my humble opinion. heh.

i think the big problem with the Oscars is that they lump drama and comedy in the same category and usually comedy actors get no recognition (except in supporting roles).

same thing with comedic movies. that's why i dig the Golden Globes...
